The Curious Cae of Murphy Huston

A radio show host and an unusual diagnosisCurious Case of Murphy Brown

Murphy Huston, a long-time radio professional in Denver, is also an avid golfer, a member of your organization and a breast cancer survivor. Our hope is that you will share his story on your website and throughout your organization.

Huston sat down recently with Catch It In Time, a cancer awareness and prevention organization and told his story. You can click on the picture to see the story. It reveals how he came to discover it and his reactions. Huston’s wife also survived breast cancer several years ago so he was aware of the treatment and recovery steps.

A man's lifetime risk of developing breast cancer is about 1/10 of 1%, or one in 1,000. Male breast cancer is a rare condition, accounting for only about 1% of all breast cancers. The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2013, about 2,240 new cases of breast cancer in men would be diagnosed and that breast cancer would cause approximately 410 deaths in men (in comparison, almost 40,000 women die of breast cancer each year). Breast cancer is 100 times more common in women than in men.
